Potassium permanganate is most effectively used as a bath treatment. Either at a rate of 10ml per 44 gallons for 10-12 hours. Or as a short term bath use 10ml per 8.8 gallons for no longer than 30 mins. When using this product directly in the pond always use the first dosage rate. It is also important not to run this product through your filter system, as the filter will strip this product from the water before it has had a chance to do its job. When using this product in the pond you must switch your filter system off for 10-12 hours. It is very important to supply ciculation, or oxygenation to your pond water during this period. This product will deplete your pond water of its oxygen. It is also important to observe your fish while this product remains in your pond water. If the fish show any signs that they are not responding well to treatment simply switch your filter system back on. Potassium permanganate should never be used in the pond over night when oxygen levels are naturally lower than during the day. This product can also make your fish jump, so cover nets are advisable.
